Welding graduate Amarildo Mendes stopped by the Bissau campus recently to thank his teachers and share about the impact the school has had on his life.

“I’d like to tell the school thank you very much because of the opportunities I have now and the ones I’ll have in the future,” Mendes said. “It’s because of the school that I have them. If not for this school, I wouldn’t be able to earn what I need to follow my dreams.

Mendes continued: “There’s one quote that I would always see from John Kennedy that says ‘Don’t ask what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country.’ The quote is one that’s impacted me and so I’ve adopted it for myself. It’s not important to focus on what others have or haven’t done for me – it’s important to focus on what I can do to make a change.”

Staff Retreat

Staff took a day trip to a local swim area where they swam, ate together, and played games like this one – baggy clothes relay! The staff retreat is always one of the staff’s favorite events of the year and is filled with lots of dancing, soccer, and quality time!
